The Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce has rescheduled free "Rock the Park" concert featuring "The Kings of Queen", a Queen tribute band, for Jan. 25 due to predicted rain.

Concerts are typically held the first Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m., but with the threat of showers, Chamber CEO Nona Watson said it was postponed for the safety of concert attendees, the band and volunteers.

"With a chance of rain, we feel it is best to postpone the January 'Rock the Park' concert to a later date. The safety of our concert attendees, band and volunteers is the utmost priority," Watson said in a statement.

"The Kings of Queen" features the music of rock legend Queen and lead singer Freddie Mercury.

According to the Chamber's website, "The Kings of Queen" performance has been rescheduled for Jan. 25 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

For those eager to take advantage of these free "Rock the Park" events, performances are lined up through May. Following "The Kings of Queen", is Prince tribute by "Prince Again" on Feb. 1, then Bon Jovi tribute on March 1 by "Wanted", Bee Gees tribute by "Bee Gees Gold" on April 5, and finally Journey tribute by "DSB" on May 3. This year's "Rock the Park" season marks the second year the Chamber has coordinated the free park concerts.

According to information provided by Visit Palm Springs, the "Rock the Park" concerts feature tribute band performances, and "only acts who look, sound and perform like the real thing will be featured". The concerts are open to the public and take place in the Downtown Park in Palm Springs, which newly opened in October 2021.
