Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio released the lineup for 2023, with headlining artists including Bad Bunny, BLACKPINK and Frank Ocean.
According to CBS News, this year's headliners feature entirely nonwhite artists for the first time in the music festival's 22-year history. The festival has faced several setbacks in recent years, including COVID-19-inspired cancellations in 2020 and 2021 and Kanye West's decision to give up his spot as a headliner this year.
One of the performers canceled by the pandemic was Ocean who, according to CBS News, had been scheduled to headline Coachella 2020. Ocean has not performed at Coachella since 2012 and has not released an album since "Blonde" in 2016. Fellow headliners BLACKPINK and Bad Bunny both performed at the festival in 2019.
According to Pitchfork, BLACKPINK will be the first K-pop group to be a headliner at the festival. Additionally, Bad Bunny is the first Latin American and first Spanish-language singer to headline at the event.
Those interested in attending the festival have the opportunity to register now for access to passes at Coachella.com. According to Twitter, presale began on Jan. 13. With only limited Weekend One passes remaining, the festival Tweet suggests looking to Weekend Two for the best chance at passes.
The festival spans two weekends: April 14 through 16 and April 21 through 23.
