As the Coachella Mariachi Festival gets ready to celebrate its vibrant culture once again, the city of Coachella is asking local licensed businesses to submit bids to operate the beer garden during the annual event in March.

The date is set for the Coachella Mariachi Festival, a free event combining music and brews that goes back to 2017. This year's festival will be held Saturday, March 25, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Historically, the event has been held at Veterans' Park, located at 1515 Sixth Street between Orchard and Vine, which is hard to miss with the sound of mariachi music marking the occasion.

"The city is requesting proposals from licensed Coachella businesses to be the beer garden operator at the upcoming Coachella Mariachi Festival on Saturday, March 25," the city posted on Facebook.

To hold that prestigious slot as beer garden operator will take a bit of paperwork. The city is requesting proposals from qualified businesses, which must be submitted before a deadline of 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9, according to a Jan. 26 Facebook post. The final candidate will be chosen by lottery drawing.

Both a Spanish and English version of the vendor application can be found on the city's website.

In order to qualify as beer garden operator, businesses must be able to provide proof of a valid Coachella business license, existing insurance, as well as a copy of a current Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) license.

The application outlines how the beer garden operator will be named from a potential sea of applicants. Signed and returned forms will be entered into a lottery drawing at City Hall. The winning business will run the beer garden for this year's event.

Anyone looking for additional information is encouraged to call 760-501-8100 or visit the city's website.
