The U.S. Air Force Band of the Golden West will perform a free concert at the Plaza Theatre in downtown Palm Springs, California, on Feb. 21, an Instagram announcement said.
Although the event is free, due to limited space and crowd control purposes, those interested in attending will need a ticket to get in, according to the City of Palm Springs. Tickets can be picked up at the Leisure Center in Sunrise Park at the Demuth Community Center and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
"The concert band is hitting the road," the Instagram message said. "We will be touring through Southern California and Arizona in February and would love to see you at a show. Our program celebrates Presidents Day and features a diverse range of music, including traditional works for military band, featured instrumental and vocal soloists, and music that honors our military history and allies across the globe."
The concert begins at 7 p.m.
According to the city, tickets are limited to four per household due to limited seating. Reserved tickets will not be available.
According to the U.S. Air Force Bands website, the Band of the Golden West is stationed at the Travis Air Force Base in the San Francisco Bay Area and is the only active duty Air Force band west of the Rockies. The band is comprised of approximately 60 airmen-musicians under the command of Lt. Colonel Cristina Moore Urrutia.
The Band of the Golden West performs for civilian communities throughout California, Washington, Oregon, Arizona and Nevada. It also supports 13 Air Force bases, eight Air Force Reserve wings and six recruiting squadrons.
