Cathedral City is hosting a "ReFresh the Rainbow Crossing Paint Party" on Saturday, Feb. 18, promising good times to usher in the Cathedral City LGBT Days.

"It’s that time of year! It’s time to refresh the Rainbow Crossing in preparation for Cathedral City LGBT Days. So, we are putting on a Paint Party for Saturday, Feb. 18, starting at 9 a.m., Cathedral City officials said in a news release

Participants should come dressed for mess, wearing old clothes and shoes, and bringing along a pillow or knee pads to kneel upon, but the event sponsors have readied the rest of the needed materials.

"We have the paint, paint brushes and equipment, and delicious snacks and drinks! Come join your neighbors and friends. It’s really a party and lots of fun!," the city's invite said.

Those interested in going are encouraged to contact Stone James, staff liaison to the Public Arts Commission, at sjames@cathedralcity.gov so that enough equipment and snacks can be provided.

This year's Cathedral City LGBT Days will take place March 3-5 with new events as well as iconic old ones. This year, the first-ever outdoor PRIDE Drone Show is slated for Friday evening. Additionally, the return of the annual Bed Race Competition means competitors can race for cash, prizes and bragging rights.

The three-day festivities also will be filled with musical performances and movie screenings. Full details and registration information can be found using the official site: cathedralcitylgbtdays.com.
