The 16th annual La Quinta Hot Rod and Custom Car Show has been postponed until Saturday, March 25, in hopes of sunny skies, according to the city's Facebook post, which recommends attendees, "start your engines and get ready".

Sponsored by the Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce working along with the city, the show is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at La Quinta Community Park (near Old Town La Quinta) located at 77-865 Avenida Montezuma, the chamber said. The original date of Feb. 25 was called off due to an inclement weather forecast.

The chamber describes the event as family friendly and an attraction that goes beyond hot rods to include entertainment, food, drinks and a beer garden. Both admission and parking are without charge.

For car aficionados, this year's show invites many varieties and features several prize-winning categories, which include Best Street Rod, Best Classic, Best Muscle Car, and Best Sports Car, according to the chamber.

"The vehicles will meander through the spacious grounds of the park, allowing viewers to take their time and comfortably enjoy each vehicle on display," the chamber also wrote, adding the park is near other attractions like Old Town La Quinta, local stores and restaurants as well as hiking trails and parks for those who want to make a day out of it.
