The "Queen of Pop," Madonna, is expanding "The Celebration Tour" to include a performance at Acrisure Arena in Greater Palm Springs and also call attention to LGBTQ+ issues, according to Acrisure Arena's website.
Acrisure Arena, a newly built multipurpose indoor venue and home to the American Hockey League's Coachella Valley Firebirds, is one of seven dates added to "The Celebration Tour" by popular demand. The tour kicks off July 15 in Vancouver and represents four decades for the singer-songwriter and pop culture icon, as well as the social statement Madonna is known for.
Other new stopovers in this final chapter of the tour in North America will include Nashville, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Sacramento, a second show in Phoenix, a third show in San Francisco and Las Vegas.
According to Acrisure Arena, Madonna plans to use a portion of proceeds from her Nashville show to benefit trans rights organizations regarding what she sees as a hostile environment for those in the LGBTQ+ community in light of new legislation.
"The oppression of the LGBTQ+ is not only unacceptable and inhumane, it's creating an unsafe environment, making America a dangerous place for our most vulnerable citizens, especially trans women of color. Also, these so-called laws to protect our children are unfounded and pathetic," Madonna said on Instagram, describing anti-LGBTQ+ legislation now approved in states like Tennessee.
"The Celebration Tour" hits Acrisure Arena on Jan. 11, 2024, but tickets will go on sale this week, starting 10 a.m. local time on Friday, March 31, on Ticketmaster.com. Joining Madonna across all dates will be Bob the Drag Queen as her special guest.
Madonna plans to draw from her greatest hits for these new show dates, which run through January 2024, and represent the last chance to catch the global act in North America, according to the Acrisure website.
