The Palm Springs Police Department is seeking information from the public in the investigation of a recent shooting that stemmed from an argument, according to a news release from the department.
On Sunday, April 9, at approximately 2 p.m., dispatchers received multiple calls of shots fired in the area of Camino Parocela and Desert Way, the department posted on Facebook.
Under the headline "PSPD seeking information on shooting," the department gave a brief synopsis of the violence that happened this past holiday weekend and how "they were able to locate the victim." That press statement was made on Monday, the day after the gunfire, and there has been no update on social media since that time with the investigation still in progress.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers found out that the victim of the shooting escaped harm, the news release said. They also determined that the victim had argued with two male suspects of Hispanic descent and the violence occurred as he attempted to leave. It was at that point that the two men allegedly fired several rounds at the victim's vehicle, the release said. No description was given of the suspects other than that they are Hispanic. Nor were any names provided by police.
Witnesses to the crime and those with related information are asked to come forward and help move this case to closure. They have two options for providing information, according to the news release. One way is to get in touch with the PSPD Investigations Division directly at 760-323-8121. The other way, for those who choose to remain anonymous, is to contact Valley Crime Stoppers at 760-347-7867.
According to the City of Coachella website, those who provide information to Crime Stoppers resulting in an arrest can receive a cash reward not exceeding $1,000. Each caller is assigned a code number that allows them to track the progress of their lead and whether it does yield an arrest, the website said.
