Palm Desert welcomes the community back to its Spring Concerts in the Park in May and the opportunity to enjoy a combination of live music and outdoor dining.
According to news provided by the City of Palm Desert, these free concerts will kick off at the Civic Center Park Amphitheater on May 4 and continue every Thursday for the rest of the month from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
"Palm Desert’s Civic Center Park Amphitheater is once again the hot spot for live music in May with the return of the city’s Spring Concerts in the Park," according to the city website report.
Diversity is the hallmark of the line-up, which reflects music by Caribbean music group "Upstream," Pat Benatar/Neil Giraldo tribute band "We Belong," LA party band "AMFM" and "groovy soft yacht" rock band "Yachty by Nature."
Diversity is also the name of the game with what the city calls the "delicious culinary creations" that concert-goers can sample from the food truck vendors available at the amphitheater but it's also a great opportunity for picnic basket fare so bring a blanket or lawn chair to maximize the fun.
According to the City of Palm Desert, the concert schedule is as follows: the first concert on May 4 featuring a performance from Upstream, a Caribbean music group capitalizing on reggae and calypso beats; May 11 with the rock sound of We Belong, a Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo tribute band; May 18 with the L.A. party band AMFM presenting a nostalgic mix; and May 25 with Yachty by Nature unleashing yacht rock sensations from the late '70s and early '80s.
Even those who can't hear the tunes are welcome to have a share with the help of a certified American Sign Language interpreter who will be on hand to sign each event, the city's website said. Those in need of this service can find the best vintage point by sitting near the east side of the stage and can gather more info at 760-568-1441.
Newcomers can find the venue, the Civic Center Park, on the northeast corner of San Pablo Avenue and Fred Waring Drive. As general rules of the park, smoking and alcoholic drinks are banned at the location.
