Frank Ocean, the singer who was originally scheduled to perform during the second weekend of Coachella, has announced that he will not be performing.
According to Ocean's representative, a doctor advised the singer not to perform due to a leg injury he sustained during the festival's first weekend. This announcement of Ocean's cancellation comes after a lackluster performance during the festival's first weekend.
The music star explained that the show was more hectic than he intended. However, he looks forward to more future shows.
"It was chaotic," Ocean said. "There is some beauty in chaos. It isn't what I intended to show, but I enjoy being out there and I'll see you soon."
According to Rolling Stone, Frank Ocean's representative announced on Wednesday that the singer had sustained a leg injury during the first weekend of Coachella and had been advised by a doctor not to perform. The report stated that Ocean had suffered two fractures and a sprain in his left leg. As a result, Blink-182 has been announced as the replacement headlining act.
Frank Ocean headlined at Coachella last Sunday, marking his first live performance since 2017 when he played at various music festivals in Europe and made an appearance at the FYF Fest in Los Angeles. Moreover, he was also set to headline Coachella in 2020, but due to the pandemic, the festival was canceled and rescheduled for 2023.
Following a lackluster first-weekend performance, it was announced that Frank Ocean's scheduled performance during the second weekend of Coachella was canceled. Prior to his set during the first weekend, it was already revealed that his performance would not be included in the official Coachella YouTube live stream.
Adding to the disappointment, Ocean began his set an hour behind schedule, causing many attendees to leave. During the majority of his performance, Ocean was obscured by a large screen, leaving the audience with a subpar experience. Furthermore, Ocean had to end his set abruptly due to a local curfew despite starting an hour late.
