Just in time to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, Selena tribute band, Amor Prohibido, will be performing a free concert at the Spotlight 29 Casino in Coachella.
Spotlight 29 Casino describes this as an opportunity to "relive the magic of Selena's music and celebrate her life with this amazing tribute band," according a Facebook post by the casino which advertises the most in-demand slots, table games and blackjack.
There's no draining the wallet because the Facebook announcement confirms that this is a free event scheduled for May 5 in harmony with Cinco de Mayo festivities. Fans can start filtering into the venue at 7 p.m. when doors open, but the band won't begin its performance until 8 p.m. The special performance will take place in the Spotlight Showroom.
Those under the age of 21 will not be admitted to the event, due to age restrictions, but others are welcome to go back in time and revisit the sounds of Grammy Award-winning Selena at the casino, which is located at 46200 Harrison Place.
Amor Prohibido has been hitting the stage together since 2014, the band's website said. Describing itself as America's No. 1 Selena tribute band, the group says it sells out more shows than others following in her footsteps, drawing applause from both fans and critics for accuracy.
"Nira Perez is an absolute dead ringer for Selena, both visually and vocally. She continues to stun fans with her resemblance, exact mannerisms and identical voice to Selena," the website said, promising to return fans to the '90s when "Selena ruled the airwaves." The seven musicians together are said to mirror the original masters to the delight of fans.
This is a celebration of Cinco de Mayo so food and drink specials also will be on tap, according to Palm Desert Patch.
