Wendy Beerbower, a member of the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce, spoke recently about what the Chamber accomplishes. She specifically addressed what she’s learned from her Chamber involvement and how businesses impact the local community.
“I have learned that entrepreneurs, local businesses, health-care and service providers are the lifeblood of a robust community,” Wendy Beerbower, of Eisenhower Health, said in an interview with the Coachella Valley Times. “The work we do at the Chamber focuses on helping Palm Springs businesses succeed, which touches everything we do. Visitors are more likely to come to town and return, locals are more connected to their fellow residents, and money stays here to support the great work of the city! Everybody wins when businesses flourish.”
Beerbower joined the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce when asked by Eisenhower Health CEO Marty Massiello to represent the hospital on the Chamber Board. Since her work with Eisenhower Health is focused on Palm Springs, it was considered a good match and a great way for her to be involved with the community.
In the interview, Beerbower said Eisenhower Health is the only nonprofit hospital in the Coachella Valley, as well as its largest employer. She saw an opportunity to raise funds to make sure that its health-care services remain top-notch, which can only be accomplished through philanthropy.
On working for Eisenhower Health, Beerbower said, “I just can’t imagine a better place to work and a more meaningful mission.”
When asked what she was most proud of, Beerbower said it was the Chamber’s work during COVID-19. She said the Chamber was vital to making sure the local businesses were kept afloat by helping them apply for federal pandemic relief funds while keeping the community safe.
Beerbower mentioned Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce CEO Nona Watson by name, saying that Watson has “done an amazing job of finding ways for the Chamber to add value to the business community and the city, keeping the Chamber front and center every day in Palm Springs.”
Beerbower also said that being at the table to represent Palm Springs businesses is a big responsibility, and she hopes the Chamber can continue to grow in relevance and influence.
She ended the interview by emphasizing the larger impact that can be achieved when local businesses work together.
