Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department arrested a Rancho Mirage man on August 16 for multiple felony sexual assault charges against a minor.

"On August 16, 2023, investigators located and arrested Alvarez in the 39000 block of Bob Hope Drive in Rancho Mirage," said Sergeant Daniel Milbrandt in a press release. "Alvarez was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for multiple felony sexual assault charges against a minor."

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department have arrested 65-year-old Oscar William Alvarez of Palm Desert following allegations of sexual assault of a minor. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing at this time.

According to Sgt. Milbrandt, deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff's Station responded to a report of sexual assault against a minor on April 3, 2023. Following the initial report, an investigation was assumed by the Palm Desert Investigations Bureau. During the course of the investigation, the Investigations Bureau identified Alvarez as the suspect, eventually arresting him on Wednesday.

According to inmate records, Alvarez is being held at the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio. He is scheduled to make a court appearance at the Indio Larson Justice Center on Friday. Alvarez is facing three felony charges for sexual assault against a child and is being held on $1 million bail.
