On Aug. 27, the Riverside County Sheriff's Coroner's Office released the identity of a 33-year-old Desert Hot Springs man who passed away in a car accident after a suspected medical emergency. The man was found unresponsive in his vehicle following a car accident on Aug. 26.

According to a release from the Riverside County Sheriff, on Aug. 27, the Riverside County Sheriff's Coroner's Office identified the 33-year-old Desert Hot Springs man who passed away in a car accident on Aug. 26 as William Shack, IV. Shack was found unresponsive in his vehicle on Pierson Boulevard and Golden Eagle Way, and was later transported to the Desert Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

Desert Sun reports that officers from the Desert Hot Springs Police Department responded to a vehicle accident at the intersection of Pierson Boulevard and Golden Eagle Way on Saturday morning at approximately 9:53 a.m.

Authorities reported that a silver Toyota Camry, operated by a male later identified as Shack, was headed west on Pierson Boulevard. As her approached the four-way intersection at Golden Eagle Way, he reportedly rear-ended a white Honda Odyssey, with a 40-year-old driver and a 5-year-old passenger, that was stopped at the traffic signal on the westbound lanes of Pierson Boulevard and Golden Eagle Way.

According to Desert Sun, officers believe prior to colliding into the Odyssey, Shack suffered a medical emergency behind the wheel. The occupants of the Odyssey did not require medical attention following the accident. Following the crash, part of Pierson Boulevard was temporarily closed.
