The Palm Springs Police Department (PSPD) said on Sept. 4 that they were investigating a fatal three-vehicle collision that resulted in the death of one driver and two passengers on Gene Autry Trail near the Wash, according to a Facebook post.

The Riverside County Coroner's Office identified the three as David Losacco, 29, Millicent Lewis, 29 and Yovani Aguilar Tapia, 32, all from Escondido, Palm Desert Patch reported.

The other individuals involved in the accident suffered injuries ranging from minor to moderate and were taken to a nearby hospital for medical care. As per PSPD's initial findings, all three vehicles were heading north on Gene Autry when the incident took place. While two of the vehicles had reduced their speed due to poor visibility caused by blowing sand, the driver of the third vehicle failed to slow down, resulting in a rear-end collision with one of the vehicles, which then led to a collision with the third vehicle.

According to PSPD, drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be contributing factors in the accident. However, PSPD's traffic unit is actively investigating the incident and has asked anyone who may have information related to the accident to contact PSPD. PSPD's traffic division can be reached at 760-323-8125. Alternatively, anonymous information can be reported to Crime Stoppers at 760-347-7867.

"As we prioritize the well-being of those injured and extend our support to the affected families during this challenging time, we remind all drivers to exercise caution and adhere to safe driving practices, especially when faced with adverse weather conditions," PSPD said.
