City of Palm Desert

The City of Palm Desert is calling upon talented mural artists to be part of a creative endeavor that will pay tribute to the hard work of its Public Works staff and other outdoor workers in the wake of Hurricane Hilary's impact.

Are you an artist? Share your talent with the community!

The City of Palm Desert is searching for mural artists to honor our hard-working Public Works staff for their tireless efforts serving the community during and after Tropical Storm Hilary by creating a mural on the side of our Corporate Yard building.

We're looking for creative proposals that not only embrace teamwork and determination, but also something that involves the community and represents their collective spirit.

According to the City of Palm Desert, this mural project aims to reflect the teamwork, determination, and commitment demonstrated by these individuals during and after the storm. Mural proposals should reflect these themes, according to the City. This mural will serve as a representation of the collective spirit shared by Palm Desert residents. Artists should also consider community involvement in the creation of the mural, such as hosting interactive community workshops, encouraging community members to share their ideas and visions, and incorporating hands-on painting by residents during the creation process.

According to the City of Palm Desert, the mural will be on a wall with measurements of 160 feet width and 6 feet in height. It will be located on the space at 74705 42nd Ave and Joni Drive. This opportunity is open to mural artists aged eighteen (18) and above, residing in the Coachella Valley and the surrounding areas, with demonstrated expertise in mural artistry. The City of Palm Desert upholds a commitment to diversity and inclusion, welcoming applicants of all backgrounds and affiliations without regard to disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, or immigration status.

According to the City, the chosen artist will receive $8,000, covering artist fees, supplies, and community involvement elements. Applications will be accepted through October 23, 2023, at 11:59 p.m., and the City will commence artist selection in mid-November.
