The Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce (GCVCC) announced that the Indio Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place on Dec. 1. The event will kick off at 5 p.m. in downtown Indio, at the corner of Towne Street and Bliss Avenue. This annual event is a beloved tradition designed to bring the community together during the holiday season.
Unveiling more details about this festive occasion, According to a Nov. 22 press release from the GCVCC, in addition to the tree lighting, the event will include music, such as student performances and songs from the Desert Carolers, garbed in Dickens’ era costumes. Santa Claus will be there as well as a snow scene. The tree lighting ceremony coincides with Food Truck Fridays, which will feature food, live music, a toy giveaway for the first 100 kids and classic car show.
In expressing his anticipation for this gathering, "We invite the community to join us in making memories, spreading joy, and embracing the holiday spirit as we welcome the holiday season. This is an important time for us to come together and celebrate with the ones we love most and create new memories with our friends and family," said Indio Mayor Oscar Ortiz.
In consideration of seating arrangements at this event, According to the GCVCC press release, there will be enough seating for only 100 people; therefore, attendees are advised to bring their own chairs or blankets.
