Alianza Coachella Valley is preparing to host an event that will showcase a reimagined Salton Sea. The gathering is scheduled to occur at the North Shore Beach and Yacht Club on Saturday, January 27, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

According to an Alianza Coachella Valley press release, the event is being organized in collaboration with its partners the Sierra Club, Desert Recreation District, Coachella Valley Parents, Líderes Campesinas, Loma Linda University, Miguel A. Vazquez (Health Equity Urban and Regional Planner for Riverside University Health System – Public Health), and Design by Paul Ruppert & Gillian Shaffer Lutsko.

The release indicates that the event will display potential elements for a proposed trail along the Salton Sea. It will also offer family-friendly activities such as a guided walk, Zumba classes, a scavenger hunt, crafts, prizes, and more. This gathering is the first of a three-part series planned for early 2024. Alianza Coachella Valley aims to engage the community, gather input and demonstrate the transformative possibilities for the Salton Sea.

According to the same release, the first 50 community members who register for the event will receive a complimentary lunch. Additionally, participants have an opportunity to enter a raffle and win prizes by completing a survey.

As stated on its website, Alianza Coachella Valley is a "union" based in Eastern Coachella Valley with an objective of empowering resident leaders to enhance their local community. Established in 2010 under the name Building Healthy Communities Coachella Valley, it continues its mission today under its current name.
