PALM SPRINGS, CA – March 20, 2024: The Palm Springs Plaza Theatre Foundation has announced an exciting fundraising event that will showcase an exclusive collection of rare and vintage automobiles owned by collector Brad Prescott. The event, titled ‘Drive the Plaza Theatre Into the Future,’ will offer attendees the chance to enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, live musical entertainment, and a close-up view of over 100 remarkable vehicles.

"We are thrilled that renowned car collector Brad Prescott will allow our theatre supporters to view his impressive auto collection at this unique fundraising event," expressed Foundation Board member Kathy Weremiuk.

The event is scheduled to take place on Friday, April 19, with VIP admission from 5-6 pm and general admission from 6-8 pm at The Prescott Collection Hangar in Palm Springs. Tickets are priced at $100 for General Admission, $250 for VIP Admission, and $1,000 for Grand Admission, offering various exclusive perks to attendees.

The Prescott Collection, focusing on postwar American automobiles, features a diverse range of vehicles including luxury marques like Cadillac, Lincoln, and Packard, as well as lesser-known brands such as Nash, Rambler, and Studebaker. These cars are housed in specially constructed hangars in Palm Springs, providing a unique setting for the fundraising event.

The Foundation's ongoing efforts aim to fully restore the iconic Plaza Theatre in Palm Springs, with a fundraising target of at least $10 million to cover construction costs, contingencies, and startup expenses. The restoration project is crucial to bringing back the original splendor of the historic venue and updating it to meet modern accessibility, technology, and equity standards, with an expected completion timeline of 2025.

Interested individuals can contribute to the Plaza Theatre restoration by becoming a Founder, securing Naming Opportunities, or making general donations. All contributions are tax-deductible, and more information can be found on the SaveThePlazaTheatrePS.org website.

The Plaza Theatre, initially constructed in 1936, has a rich history of hosting film premieres, radio theatre programs, and live performances. With a legacy that includes the popular "The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies," the theatre is set to undergo a transformation to reclaim its former glory through the dedicated efforts of the Palm Springs Plaza Theatre Foundation.
