The Palm Springs Public Library has launched a new mobile app, now available for both Android and Apple devices. Users can find the app by searching for 'Palm Springs Public Library' in their respective app stores and downloading it for free.
The library's mobile app aims to simplify the process of finding items in its collection, checking out materials, and storing library cards digitally. For example, users can scan the barcode of a book while shopping to see if the library owns it and place a hold through the app. Additionally, patrons at the library can use the self-checkout feature via the app.
The app also provides easy access to user accounts and online digital services. The eBooks icon offers access to eBooks, downloadable music, eMagazines, the New York Times, and Kanopy for streaming entertainment. The Services icon includes information on book clubs, passport services, and various research tools such as Mango Languages, HelpNow homework help, and HeritageQuest for genealogy research. The app also features a direct link to the events calendar.
"We’re excited to offer a mobile app to our customers," said Jeannie Kays, Director of Library Services. "Anything we can do to make it easier for our community to use the library and our resources is a win-win!"
