The Parkinson’s Resource Organization (PRO) has announced its collaboration with Blue Coyote Bar & Grill in Palm Springs for the Sixth Annual Don Cavanaugh Day. The event is scheduled for Sunday, November 10, 2024, and will run from 11 AM to 9 PM. It aims to honor the memory of Don Cavanaugh, a founder and former owner of Blue Coyote, who passed away due to Parkinson's disease on February 23, 2019.

Blue Coyote Bar & Grill, now managed by Cavanaugh’s daughters Shayne Alloway and Kelle Baker, will contribute 15% of the day's earnings to PRO. Representatives from the organization will be available throughout the day to provide information about Parkinson's disease and support options for patients and their families.

A brief program during lunchtime will include speeches from Palm Springs Mayor Jeffrey Bernstein, PRO Executive Director Eileen Lynch, and Shayne Alloway. Attendees can enjoy live music, free promotional items, Blue Coyote’s renowned margaritas, and complimentary chocolate chip cookies—a favorite of Don Cavanaugh.

Alloway remarked on the importance of PRO during her father's illness: “When our Dad was battling his diagnosis, Parkinson’s Resource Organization was instrumental for our family,” she said. “We want to give back to an organization that has given so much to us.”

Lynch expressed enthusiasm for the annual event: “Every year we look forward to Cavanaugh Day,” she stated. “It’s such a special way to honor Don’s legacy...and spread the word about our free programs and services for people with Parkinson’s and caregivers.”
