Organizers of the Date Festival Parade are inviting various groups from the Coachella Valley and Riverside County to participate in this year's event. The annual parade is part of the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival, scheduled for Monday, February 17, in downtown Indio.
The parade will begin at 9 a.m. at Miles Avenue and Deglet Noor Street. Due to construction on Oasis Street, the route has been altered. It will now proceed east on Miles Avenue to Towne Street, then south to Highway 111, and finally west to the Riverside County Fairgrounds.
Supervisor V. Manuel Perez highlighted the significance of the event: “The Date Festival Parade is one of our community parades and it’s one of the favorite events of the Fair that I remember going back to elementary school.” He added that there is an effort to include more cities and communities throughout the county.
Interested participants can apply online at www.datefest.org/p/about/parade. The parade receives sponsorship from the Riverside County Facilities Management Department and the City of Indio.
