The City of Cathedral City is in the process of updating its Development Code and is seeking input from community members. The city has organized walking tours and a community open house to facilitate public involvement.
An open house titled “What is Zoning and How You Make a Difference” will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at the Cathedral City Senior Center, located at 37171 W. Buddy Rogers Avenue. This event aims to provide an overview of the Development Code Update process, explain the city's objectives, and offer ways for residents to participate. Discussions on zoning issues will be led by city staff and a consultant team. Attendees can engage directly with these representatives and complete questionnaires. Spanish interpretation and light refreshments will be available.
Additionally, three walking tours are planned as part of the initial outreach phase to gather feedback on project design aspects such as site planning and building aesthetics. Each tour will last about one hour.
The first tour will cover Civic Center Plaza and Cathedral Cove Development on Saturday, March 15, starting at 9:00 a.m., meeting at the Cathedral City Senior Center.
The second tour will explore Landau/Veterans Village/Salvation Army Neighborhood also on Saturday, March 15, beginning at 11:00 a.m., with participants meeting at the Salvation Army on Landau Blvd.
The third tour focuses on Date Palm at Ramon – Commercial area scheduled for Sunday, March 16, starting at 10:00 a.m., meeting outside Starbucks on Ramon Rd.
Vehicles for those with mobility needs and Spanish interpretation services will be provided during all tours.
Feedback collected from these events will contribute to adjustments in the City's Design Guidelines and help establish Citywide Objective Design Standards.
