The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens has officially opened the Bighorn Cafe and the Bill Gross and Pax Stengaard Gross Oasis Splash Pad, signaling the start of summer with new attractions. Located in the desert, these additions aim to provide visitors with a cooler and more enjoyable experience.
Visitors to the Oasis Splash Pad can expect a place to escape the high temperatures, offering refreshing water and open space ideal for family gatherings. Access to the splash pad is included with park membership or paid admission.
The water resource management of the splash pad has been highlighted for its sustainability. "Thanks to the recirculatory system, water is captured, sanitized, and reused. Only 4,000 gallons were needed to fill the storage tank, plus occasional top-offs for evaporation — less than half the water an average household uses in a month!"
Complementing the splash pad, the Bighorn Cafe provides an opportunity for dining with a view. Guests can enjoy the picturesque scenery of Bighorn Mountain from the outdoor patio or cool off inside. The cafe's menu boasts a range of options, including pizzas, salads, bowls, smoothies, iced coffees, and ice cream sundaes.
