The Riverside County Sheriff's Office is set to conduct a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) saturation enforcement operation in Eastvale, California. This operation will take place on June 6, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 2:00 am. The objective is to identify and address drivers suspected of DUI.
Deputy Vawter emphasized the preventable nature of impaired driving by stating, "Impaired driving is preventable. It’s a choice. If you’ve been drinking or taken drugs that impair, make the right choice by finding a sober driver or alternate transportation to take you places."
The sheriff's office also highlighted that impairment is not limited to alcohol consumption. Certain prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs can also affect one's ability to drive safely. Users are advised to adhere to directions for use and heed any warnings related to driving. Additionally, while both medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal in some areas, driving under its influence remains illegal.
Those found guilty of driving under the influence for the first time may face substantial penalties, including an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties alongside a suspended license.
This program receives funding from a grant provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
