Student Screening Day returns to Palm Springs International Film Festival

The Palm Springs International Film Festival is set to host its 36th annual Student Screening Day on January 8, 2025. This event will bring together over 900 students from 13 high schools in the Coachella Valley. The program offers a unique opportunity for students to view a film from the festival’s lineup and engage with filmmakers in post-screening discussions.

Participating high schools include Amistad High School, Coachella Valley High School, Desert Mirage High School, La Familia High School, Indio High School, Palm Desert High School, Palm Springs High School, Palm Valley High School, La Quinta High School, Shadow Hills High School, Summit High School, West Shores High School, and Yucca Valley High School. The initiative receives funding support from US Bank.

The featured film for this year’s screening is “Bob Trevino Likes It.” Attendees will have the chance to meet director Tracie Laymon and executive producer Jacqueline Reinish. Other notable attendees include Glenn Miller (Mayor of Indio), Nachhattar Singh Chandi (Festival Chairman), Lili Rodriguez (Artistic Director), and Jennifer Van Camp (Programming & Education Manager). Representatives from both the film and festival teams will be available for interviews.

The event will take place at Indio High School located at 81750 Ave 46 in Indio, California. Buses are scheduled to arrive at 9:00 a.m., followed by the screening at 9:30 a.m. A Q&A session with director Tracie Laymon is planned for 11:15 a.m., with photo and interview opportunities commencing at 11:35 a.m.
