Sunnylands announced on Mar. 17 that it is recruiting college students to join its new class of guides for the 2026-27 season.

The program offers paid internships and academic credit, aiming to help students develop professional skills and prepare for future careers. Interns will receive training from late July through August before serving as guides from September through early June 2027. They will also have opportunities to work in other departments during the summer when Sunnylands is closed.

According to Michaeleen Gallagher, director of Sunnylands Center & Gardens, “Tour guides are responsible for advancing the educational mission of The Annenberg Foundation Trust at Sunnylands by providing a welcoming experience at the Center & Gardens, historic house, and grounds through guided tours. As a tour guide, students will be able to gain work experience in a beautiful environment that incorporates art, architecture, history, hospitality, golf course operations, and environmental sustainability.”

A full description of the program and application details can be found at www.sunnylands.org/guide. Sunnylands was once the winter home of philanthropists Walter and Leonore Annenberg and now serves as a convening center where experts address societal issues. The estate features nine acres of desert gardens, an art exhibition, and informational kiosks about its history.
