Deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of grand theft on July 15, 2025, after fiber optic and internet cables were damaged and stolen near Nuevo Road and Pico Avenue. The incident led to internet outages for local residents and several public safety facilities. The estimated financial impact of the theft and related damage was about $25,000.
The Robbery and Burglary Team (RBST) at the Perris Station took over the investigation. On July 23, 2025, another attempted theft was reported near Lakeview Avenue and 11th Street in Nuevo. Investigators identified a vehicle linked to this attempt.
A third incident occurred on July 29, 2025, when approximately $5,000 worth of fiber optic cable was stolen near Highway 74 and Theda Street in Goodhope. Deputies later found the suspect vehicle on July 30 in the 22000 block of Alviso Road in Perris during a traffic stop. They discovered a large quantity of wire matching those reported stolen.
Jordani De La Rosa-Vasquez, a 31-year-old resident of Perris, was arrested at the scene. A search warrant executed at his residence uncovered further evidence connecting him to the earlier thefts. De La Rosa-Vasquez has been booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center facing charges including grand theft, felony vandalism, and felony damage to utility lines.
