Surfers in Palm Springs will soon have the opportunity to catch waves without making a trip to the coast. The Palm Springs Surf Club (PSSC), an $80 million beach-style, sustainable entertainment destination situated in the desert, is slated to open its doors to the public on January 1, 2024.
According to a press release from PSSC, the 21-acre resort occupies the site of the former Palm Springs Wet ‘N’ Wild. It boasts a state-of-the-art wave pool that engineers waves ranging from two to seven feet in height. Additionally, it offers two restaurants, waterslides, lounge pools, a lazy river, cabana rentals, indoor/outdoor event venues and a social club.
The press release further details that the resort’s surf pool can accommodate up to 25 surfers at once. It operates using advanced pneumatic wave technology developed by Tom Lochtefeld, founder of Surfloch Wave Systems. This technology provides on-demand waves tailored for surfers with varying skill levels – from beginners to advanced practitioners. For guests who do not own a board, the resort offers a wide selection of rentals and boards for sale. Surfing sessions are available with costs starting at $100 for beginners (group of 12), $150 for intermediates (group of 12) and $200 for advanced surfers (group of 9).
PSSC’s commitment to sustainability is highlighted in their press release. The company underscores that it uses only 1% of the water volume required by an average golf course and generates more than 70% of its energy resources internally.
