The Toastmasters Club will host an open house party at the Cathedral City Branch Library on Oct. 28. The theme of this event is “scary,” both in the Halloween sense and in how to overcome fear of public speaking.

According to the Toastmasters Club, this event is meant to acknowledge the Toastmasters as an organization with almost 100 years of history as a nonprofit organization and self-paced educational program that helps people develop communication, public speaking, and leadership skills. They are a club that “anyone can join to improve their public speaking and communication skills while learning to be a better leader.”

This open house will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It will start with a meet and greet at 10:30 a.m. that goes until 11 a.m. where guests will be welcomed by Toastmasters club members from the area. Then, from 11 a.m. to noon, a Toastmasters Club meeting demonstration will be held, where Toastmasters members will be giving speeches, evaluations, and table topics. After this, there will be a Q&A and mingling time, and prizes will be given away as well. Overall, it is hoped that guests will find out why “Toastmasters is one of the world’s most popular networking clubs for public speaking, communication improvement, and leadership building.”

This event is free to attend, and refreshments will be available. This event is meant to be purely informational, and there is no pressure for attendees to join the Toastmasters Club. The Cathedral City Branch Library is located at 33520 Date Palm Drive, Cathedral City, California.

According to their website, Toastmasters has over 270,000 members in 148 countries. It was founded in 1924, and there are currently over 14,200 individual Toastmaster clubs worldwide.
