Two people were arrested and sixteen citations were issued during a DUI checkpoint in Perris on August 29, 2025. The checkpoint took place at Redlands Avenue and San Jacinto Avenue from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Authorities reported that eight drivers received citations for operating vehicles without a license or with a suspended or revoked license. A total of 376 vehicles were stopped, with 25 sent for secondary screening. Ten field sobriety tests were administered, and one vehicle was towed.

According to officials, the location of DUI checkpoints is selected based on data regarding impaired driving-related crashes. The main goal of these checkpoints is to improve public safety by removing suspected impaired drivers from the roads.

Funding for this operation came from a grant provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
