A memorial has been growing outside a San Bernardino hookah lounge as the community remembers 20-year-old Allen Gresham Jr., victim of Friday night’s shooting that also injured eight, KESQ reported.
In an interview, Gresham’s aunt Pamela Brown describes the victim as motivated and well-liked, according to an Associated Press article in KESQ.
“He graduated from school. He got his driver’s license. He was working at the barbershop. He got his own car. He stayed at home with his grandmother, you know, he was doing good. A good kid. I don’t know how that happened like that,” Brown said.
According to KESQ, gunfire broke out at an overnight party late Friday night outside the THA Blue Flame, a hookah bar located in San Bernardino, the article said. The shooting involved at least two people and began inside the hookah lounge after an argument escalated and eventually continued out on the street, KESQ reported. Gresham had received a flyer about the party, leading him to attend.
As the investigation continues and delves into motive, two people were detained by San Bernardino police officers, and one was arrested for suspicion of possessing a stolen gun, the article said. None of these individuals have been identified, however.
The deceased victim was found by San Bernardino police officers in the parking lot outside of the strip mall lounge and pronounced dead at the scene, according to KESQ.
As for the eight survivors who were wounded, all went to local hospitals for treatment, some via ambulance and others on their own, but no injuries appeared to be life-threatening, KESQ reported.
