Palm Springs entrepreneur Marcus Motamedi has taken grand prize at a Shark Tank-like competition in Coachella Valley with his creation, LifeID, a product that makes life-saving information instantly available in an emergency.

As top-prize winner at this year’s Coachella Valley Fast Pitch Competition, Motamedi will be representing Coachella Valley at the Riverside Fast Pitch Finale in Temecula, KESQ Channel 3 News reports. The Coachella Valley Fast Pitch competition was hosted by Coachella Valley Economic Partnership (CVEP), and Motamedi applauds the partnership’s backing. 

“The guidance and resources that were provided from the CVEP leading up to the competition were so valuable to my presentation, and we can’t thank them enough for their continuing support,” Motamedi said in the same article.

According KESQ Channel 3 News, Motamedi’s price-winning product was designed to benefit Alzheimer’s and dementia patients with a QR Code-based identification they can wear. The LifeID QR medical identification product gives easy access to contact and medical information in an emergency.

Other features of LifeID remind patients to take their medication and stores information about insurance, vital conditions and more, the article reports. The entrepreneur’s website also mentions uses for athletes, students and really anybody who wants the security of emergency identification.

The Riverside County Fast Pitch finale is scheduled for April 27, according to the KESQ article.

Coachella awarded $10 million grant for Community Resilience Center

The California Strategic Growth Council has awarded the City of Coachella a Community Resilience Center (CRC) Implementation Grant Award of $10 million to help further the City’s goal of making Coachella a more climate-resilient community.
