Yachtley Crew consists of lead vocalist Phillip Daniel (Philly Ocean), drummer Rob Jones (Sailor Hawkins), bassist Chaz Ruiz (Baba Buoy), guitarist Thomas Gardner Jr. (Tommy Buoy), backing vocalist Curt Clendenin (Stoney Shores), saxophone/flutist Paul Pate (Pauly Shores), and keyboardist Matt Grossman (Matthew McDonald). Since forming in California in 2017, the group has developed a national following.
The band released its first album, “Seas the Day” EP in 2023 with covers such as Boz Scaggs’ “Lido Shuffle,” Ace’s “How Long,” Robbie Dupree’s “Steal Away,” the Bee Gees’ “How Deep Is Your Love,” and Christopher Cross’ “Ride Like the Wind.” Their live sets often include Toto’s “Africa,” Looking Glass’ “Brandy,” and Rupert Holmes’ “Escape (The Piña Colada Song).” Yachtley Crew also released their first original song, “Sex On The Beach,” accompanied by a video featuring Mario Lopez and directed by Myles Erfurth.
In 2024, Yachtley Crew issued their holiday EP “Seas and Greetings” under Earache Records. The single “It’s Christmastime” reached Top 40 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary charts and Top 30 on Billboard’s holiday charts after a year marked by sold-out tours.
For this year, Yachtley Crew is preparing to release their next album “Seas The Night” on September 19. Its first single is a cover of Boz Scaggs’ “Lowdown,” with an accompanying video using footage from recent international shows. The second single from the upcoming album is an original titled “Pain Of Losing You,” written for them by songwriter Diane Warren. This track reached Top 20 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary Charts and was produced by Chris Lord-Alge and mastered by Ted Jensen; both singles have videos directed by Myles Erfurth.
The band recently completed an Australian tour and continues their fourth leg of the Seas The Night tour across multiple venues through November, including a residency at KAOS at The Palms Casino & Resort in Las Vegas.
Yacht Rock has seen renewed popularity nationwide with audiences dressing up for concerts and singing along to familiar tunes from previous decades.
The group has made appearances on HBO’s “Yacht Rock: A Dockumentary,” Andy Cohen’s “Watch What Happens Live,” KLAS/KTLA’s New Year countdown broadcast reaching over sixteen million households, Fox News nationally, SiriusXM’s Yacht Rock Radio show as well as participating in charity events like the Mario Lopez Golf Classic Tournament supporting Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center.
Andy Gould manages Yachtley Crew while Jim Lenz at TKO serves as their agent.
“Yachtley Crew is proud to fly the Yacht Rock flag for each generation that loves good fun and good-time music. They look forward to sharing new and classic Yacht Rock tunes and are set to help everyone navigate the as-yet-uncharted waters of 2025 and beyond.”
