Yucca Valley man dies after traffic incident; sheriff investigates

A 64-year-old Yucca Valley man, Leon Dowd, died on September 4, 2025, following injuries sustained in a roadway incident earlier that day. According to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office, Dowd was injured at the intersection of Joshua Lane and Pueblo Trail in Yucca Valley at approximately 12:51 p.m. He was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where he was pronounced dead at 1:53 p.m.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff is conducting the investigation into the incident. All inquiries regarding the case are being directed to the investigating agency. The coroner confirmed that next of kin have been notified.
