The Zoo recently bid farewell to Zoya, a beloved Amur leopard who passed away at the age of 21. Zoya was among the oldest of her species globally and held a special place in the hearts of both zoo staff and visitors worldwide. Many visitors made it a tradition to spot her amidst the trees or on one of the tall rocks during their visits.

Reflecting on Zoya’s legacy, zoo officials expressed gratitude for her impact on wildlife conservation awareness. “We know she inspired countless people to develop a passion for wildlife and conservation, brought attention to a critically endangered species, and sparked joy in everyone who had the privilege of knowing her,” they stated.

Zoya’s care team received appreciation for their dedication and expertise, which contributed significantly to her longevity. The community also played an essential role in sharing Zoya’s journey and ensuring that her legacy will continue.

Last week, guests were invited to write messages to Zoya at her habitat as part of commemorating her life. In honoring Zoya’s memory, zoo officials encouraged people to embrace life’s simple pleasures as she did—by observing nature, being playful, and appreciating tranquil moments.
