The Riverside County Sheriff's Office (RCSO) is set to commemorate the late Deputy Brett Harris on May 9. The memorial ceremony and park dedication for Harris will take place at 25175 Fairview Ave. in Hemet, with an open invitation extended to the public.

As reported by the Officer Down Memorial Page, Harris tragically lost his life in a collision in San Jacinto last year.

Harris, who was just 26 years old at the time, was responding to a service call when his patrol vehicle collided with another car.

The website further elaborates that this accident resulted in Harris being hospitalized.

Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries a day later. In a final act of service, his organs were donated.

The RCSO stated that Harris had joined their ranks as part of Southern California law enforcement on July 2, 2019.

Starting his career as part of the 208th Basic Academy, Harris initially served at the Cois Byrd Detention Center before transferring to the Hemet Station.

He is survived by his wife, parents, and two siblings.
