The Walt Disney Co. broke ground May 17 on Cotino, a residential community in the Rancho Mirage city of Coachella Valley.
“Cotino, surrounding a 24-acre ‘grand oasis’ accompanied by a lagoon, is set to include single-family homes, condos and a segment for residents ages 55 and older,” Aldo Baroni, a Greater Palm Springs area realtor assigned to the project, said on Facebook. "The community’s concept will be carried out by Disney Imagineers as well as third-party developers and homebuilders.”
Disney announced plans in February to build the residential community, which is the first in a series of projects titled “Storyliving,” according to ABC 7. The project will intertwine Disney’s “core magic” with an inclusive, master complex living experience, according to the news station.
The development will offer a full community of single-family homes, condominiums, a hotel and a variety of shopping and dining options as well as entertainment, including a beach, ABC 7 reported.
Although the price of these homes is still unknown, they are expected to hit the market in early 2023, according to the report. The first residents are expected to move in in 2024.
