A 20-year-old Coachella man has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly firing multiple shots with a sawed-off shotgun June 10 at a victim who escaped harm.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department said the victim was standing in the front yard when the shooting occurred at 3:32 p.m. Though the suspect left the scene, the investigation by the Coachella Community Action Team (CCAT) led to his home in the 50-600 block of Chiapas Drive, Deputy Sgt. Mariano Matos III said in a news release

"The suspect, Ramiro Reyes, a 20-year-old resident of Coachella, was taken into custody without incident," Matos said in the release.

CCAT was assisted by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team during a search of the suspect's property, during which they recovered, a short-barreled sawed-off shotgun, Sgt. Matos said.

Reyes was booked at the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio on charges of attempted homicide and possession of a short-barreled shotgun. There was no mention of a potential motive or if Reyes and the victim were connected in any way.
