Two teens were arrested Tuesday in connection with the attempted robbery at gunpoint of a cannabis delivery driver Monday morning in the city of Desert Hot Springs, City News Service (CNS) reports.
According to a Palm Desert Patch article written by CNS, Detective Sgt. Christopher Saucier said that two teens, ages 15 and 16, are accused of suspicion of robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. One of the teens is also accused of suspicion of assault with a firearm, he said. They were booked at the Riverside County Juvenile Hall.
"The other suspect actively participated in the setup and preparation of the robbery and was present in the area, however, did not physically engage the driver in the robbery," he said.
According to CNS, a female driver told police she was making a cannabis delivery when a male approached her and attempted to forcefully take the products. The incident happened at an apartment complex on Ironwood Drive on Monday morning.
When she resisted, the suspect who was physically engaged in the robbery, allegedly pointed a black handgun at her, CNS reports. According to the Desert Hot Springs Police Department, the victim drove off while the suspect fled on foot.
