The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is seeking to identify those responsible for a shooting that injured two people recently at a large party in Coachella.

Deputy Sgt. David Smith said that none of the injuries sustained on Sunday were life threatening; however, an adult female was shot in the leg and transported by ambulance to a local hospital while an adult male sustained a minor injury that did not require hospitalization.

Before news of the violence became evident, deputies were already on the way to the scene due to a report of a large party.

"At 1:51 a.m., deputies from the Thermal Sheriff’s Station responded to the report of a large party in the area of Las Lunas Avenue and Mesa Court in Coachella," Smith said, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

While in the area, deputies heard the sound of gunshots and then the two victims approached them for help. Although there was evidence of a shooting, deputies could not identify any suspects, according to Smith.

To locate those responsible for the shooting, investigators are reviewing surveillance video of the area and contacting residents to see if anyone can identify a suspect.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Cpl. Dominguez at the Thermal Sheriff's Station at 760-863-8990.
