A 20-year-old Coachella resident has been arrested for allegedly shooting a man and his son on the morning of Sept. 17.
According to a recent report by Sgt. David Aldrich of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Feliciano Navarette III shot the two individuals while they were walking on the 84100 block of Tera Vista.
“The investigation revealed a 30-year-old Coachella resident and his 8-year-old son were in the area, when a 20-year-old Hispanic male opened fire on them, striking a vehicle several times,” Aldrich said in the release. “The suspect fled the area in a white BMW. No one was struck by gun fire, and no injuries were sustained by either victim.”
The Thermal Station Investigations Bureau served a search warrant on the BMW that Navarette was driving during the incident, the release reported. The warrant uncovered the firearm Navarette was suspected to have used when firing on the father and son.
"Navarette III was booked at the John Benoit Detention Center, in the city of Indio, for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threats," Aldrich said in the release.
Anyone with information pertaining to the case was asked to contact Investigator Lopez at the Thermal Sheriff’s Station by calling 760-863-8990, or Valley Crimestoppers at 760-341-7867 to remain anonymous, the release reported.
