Through late fall, contractors working for Coachella Valley Water District will continue work on a project that limits traffic between Washington Street and Eldorado Drive in Palm Desert.
Portions of the eastbound and westbound lanes will remain closed. Closures are marked and traffic will be rerouted to one lane in each direction within the construction work areas.
Construction hours are 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
CVWD thanks drivers for their caution and patience if they need to travel in these areas.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area if possible. Alternate routes are Fred Waring Drive and Country Club Drive.
The project will connect four more golf courses to CVWD’s nonpotable (NPW) pipeline for irrigation: Bermuda Dunes Country Club, Oasis Country Club, Palm Desert Resort Country Club and Woodhaven Country Club. This will allow the courses to reduce their reliance on groundwater for turf irrigation by using NPW that includes canal water and recycled water, help prevent overdraft of the aquifer and increase the ability of CVWD to balance the supply of water with demand.
