The Indio Police Department is seeking the public's help in tracking down a hit-and-run driver who left an 11-year-old pedestrian with minor injuries.

"We need your help," the department's information officer, Benjamin Guitron, said in a Facebook reel designed to get the message across about the search for the hit-and-run driver. The accident occurred just before 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Avenue 46 and Clinton Street.

"When officers arrived, they found an 11-year-old child that had been struck by a vehicle." Guitron said. "Lucky for the child, they received scrapes and bruises, but was taken to the hospital via ambulance and currently (is) being treated at the hospital. And officers are working with the parents."

Traffic investigators on scene determined the vehicle was a white, two-door sedan with silver rims last seen traveling northbound on Clinton. The only description of the driver is a Hispanic female adult, according to Guitron.

Anyone who may have information is asked to contact the department's dispatch at (760) 391-4051 or make an anonymous report through Valley Crime Stoppers at (760) 341-STOP.
