The Palm Springs Police Department responded to reports of vandalism at City Hall that included broken glass of an unspecified value, according to a press release published on Facebook Monday.

At approximately 6 a.m. on Monday, the Police Department received report of the vandalism and responded to the scene to investigate. City employees had contacted the department after they made the discovery of a shattered window and glass door on the west side of the building.

As a result, police opened an investigation into the vandalism incident, but did not immediately come up with a suspect or suspects. At the time of the Facebook report, no suspects had been named, and further information had not yet been released on social media.

According to Desert Sun, Palm Springs Police Lt. William Hutchinson said that there were no cameras in the specific area to record the event and assist police in identifying the vandal or vandals.

Anyone who believes that they may have additional information that could help find those responsible is encouraged to contact the PSPD at 760-327-1441. For those who wish to remain anonymous, a telephone tip line is maintained by Crime Stoppers at 760-341-7867.

Repairs to the city hall, which is located at 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, commenced without delay.

In comments on Facebook, one woman said that vandalism is a problem in the area and that police are doing all they can to stop it.
