The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is seeking the public's help in locating those responsible for a Coachella shooting that proved fatal Thursday for one of three victims, a male who has yet to be named.

According to a news release from the department, "one of the victims, currently unidentified, died as a result of his injuries." The other victim remains in critical condition, and yet a third was reported in stable condition.

The shootings occurred in an unincorporated area of Coachella where deputies from the Thermal Station were drawn by a report of shots fired at approximately 11:49 p.m. on Thursday, March 2. Following a caller's description of the scene, the deputies arrived near the 84000 block of Lingayan Avenue and found neither victims nor those responsible for the shooting, but they did see evidence of a shooting, the release said.

It was a brief time later that deputies got word that two gunshot victims had been dropped off at a local hospital, then investigators linked them to the Lingayan Avenue shootings. The number of victims rose to three when deputies learned from a different local hospital they were treating an unidentified male gunshot victim, who provided information also connecting to Lingayan Avenue, according to the release. This man was last reported to be in stable condition.

The investigation is now in progress under the command of investigators from the Thermal Station and the Central Homicide Unit, who have not arrested any suspects at this time and are not releasing any further information.

To help investigators close this case, anyone with details on the shooting is urged to call Investigator A. Glasper at the Thermal Sheriff Station at 760-863-8990 or Investigator R. Navarrete with the Central Homicide Unit at 951-955-2777.
