The City of Desert Hot Springs seeks applicants to fill one (1) vacancy on the Public Safety Commission.

Notice of Unscheduled Vacancy PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION

Pursuant to Section 2.24.030 of the City of Desert Hot Springs Municipal Code (“DHSMC”), notice is hereby given that one (1) vacancy exists on the Public Safety Commission.

About the Public Safety Commission:

Pursuant to DHSMC Chapter 2.24.020, the Public Safety Commission shall consist of five (5) members each appointed by one (1) member City Council, and ratified by a majority vote of the City Council. Members are appointed for two-year terms (current term expires January 2025).

Meetings:

Regularly scheduled meetings of the Public Safety Commission are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall/Council Chamber, located at 11999 Palm Drive in Desert Hot Springs.

Purpose:

Providing citizens with public safety is one of the most important services a city can offer. The Desert Hot Springs Police Department is charged with ensuring the city is safe, drug-free, crime-free, and gang free. The Public Safety Commission is an ongoing public forum that ensures the public is involved in the process. The Public Safety Commission serves in an advisory role to:

  • Serve as liaison between the community leaders, citizens, and the Desert Hot Springs Police Department
  • Review budgets and proposals for greater efficiency and effectiveness in the area of public safety.
Compensation:

Each member of the Public Safety Commission shall receive a salary in the amount of $100.00 per meeting (DHSMC 2.32.050).

Application Deadline:

The deadline to submit a completed application is 12:00 P.M. on June 29, 2023. The City Council is scheduled to consider the appointment at the July 5, 2023 City Council Meeting.
