Gen. Patton Memorial Museum board of directors' president: ‘We are looking forward to a full day of excitement and festivities’

The Gen. Patton Memorial Museum in Chiriaco Summit, California, will hold its 35th annual Veterans Day Celebration on Nov. 11. According to Margit Chiriaco Rusche, president of the museum’s board of directors, this will be quite a meaningful event for many.

"To honor and celebrate incredible people that impacted so many lives. This is a day we honor General Patton, and all those who fought to protect our Freedom from the past to the present. We are looking forward to a full day of excitement and festivities. We welcome residents throughout the greater Coachella Valley and beyond to come join us for this amazing celebration.", said Margit Chiriaco Rusche.

Festivities for the Veterans Day Celebration will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the museum’s new handicapped pathway in honor of Sarah Benoit at 10:30 a.m. After this, there will be a fly over from the Palm Springs Air Museum at 11 a.m. The day’s entertainment will include “A Musical Salute to our Heroes” by Stargazer Productions and “Patriotic Songs” by Frank DiSalvo and Friends. There will also be food trucks and a chili cookoff. Lastly, the Historic Miniature Gamers Society will be doing an expedition in the East Wing of the museum.

According to the General Patton Memorial Museum's press release, this year’s Veterans Day Celebration will honor Brig. Gen. Guido Portante Jr. with the Gen. Patton Award, for his distinguished military career and his enduring support for veterans said General Patton Memorial Museum's press release.

The Founders Award will be presented to long time board member Carole Herrera, long time employee Rudy Montoya, and longtime volunteer Hugh Riecken said Margit Chiriaco Rusche.
