The City of Indio has declared the opening of the interim location for the Indio Library at 45130 Oasis Street. The branch, which is part of the Riverside County system, will operate under new hours.
In a Facebook post by the City of Indio, it was revealed that the new operating hours are as follows: Sunday and Monday are non-operational days; Tuesday and Wednesday open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
As per a press release by the City of Indio in November, they received a $4.6 million grant from the California State Library for constructing a new library. Construction for this new facility, named Max T. McCandless Branch Library, was scheduled to commence last month. This library forms part of the broader Civic Center Campus project that also includes a new city hall.
According to Indio's November press release, modern architectural designs are being employed in constructing the Civic Center Campus. The city described its color scheme as "mid-century modern," asserting that it would enhance Indio's recently updated branding. The city stated, "This new facility will become a centerpiece for learning, creativity, and community engagement."
The interim library offers several services according to an announcement on its Facebook page. These include book lending, Wi-Fi access, and limited computer usage.
