U.S. Representative Ken Calvert (R-Calif.) has announced his nominations for the U.S. service academies from the 41st Congressional District. As a member of Congress, Calvert is able to nominate a select group of individuals for appointment to one or more U.S. service academies, which include the Air Force Academy, Naval Academy, Military Academy, and Merchant Marine Academy.
"I am proud to nominate these outstanding young men and women from the 41st Congressional District for a potential appointment to attend one of our extraordinary U.S. Service Academies," said Calvert, Congressman. "Answering the call to serve our nation is a truly honorable act. These students are extraordinary representatives of our region and, if accepted, will undoubtedly excel at our Service Academies."
According to a press release from Calvert's office, his Academy Nominations Selection Committee evaluated each candidate from the 41st Congressional District seeking a nomination to the service academies. The service academies will now assess the nominees based on their academic, athletic and physical qualifications and extend appointments to the best-qualified candidates nominated by Calvert.
The press release also stated that twenty-six candidates were selected to receive Calvert’s nomination. These individuals represent an array of high schools from the 41st Congressional District and were chosen for their leadership skills, academic excellence, and commitment to serving their country.
Among the nominees are Emma True Arellano-Homan, Aidan Forehand, and Luke Ibbetson for the United States Air Force Academy; Carlos Barrientos, Nathanael Burns, and Sophia Campbell for the United States Naval Academy; Conner Crowe, Brooke Desteuben, and Madison LeFlore for the United States Military Academy at West Point; and Leo Balanza, Nathanael Burns, and Carol Han for the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
The press release further stated that these nominees will now await further evaluation by their respective service academies with potential appointments to begin their military education and training on offer.
